Happy Window Wednesday

Stone house with flowers on the windows

An attractive building, window and shutter in Ribeauville, Alsace, France.

This series of 21 window shots comes from an old paper mill where I had the opportunity to participate in photographically documenting the site. The site was home to E.B. Eddy from the end of the 19th century to late in the 20th century. It was taken over by Domtar at that time who actively operated it until 10 or 12 years ago. It has now been acquired by a developer who will tear some of the old buildings down and replace them with condos and a more people oriented modern living site. The site crosses the Ottawa River on the provincial border between Ontario and Quebec. Ottawa is on the Ontario side and Gatineau is on the Quebec side.

I took quite a few window shots because they were few and far between. Many buildings had no windows, or the windows were covered over or too dirty to see through. After spending many cold dismal winters days at the site last winter, (sometimes in very dark areas), I was overjoyed to see the spring sun shining through in some spots.

Detail of an office-building at Hamburg

I had put this climbing rose branch in a jar leaning against my windowsill, when all of a sudden I realized it looked rather like I should take a pic... I had intended using it in another shot but this looked rather charming!

Thanks so much for your visit!!

beautiful windows at castle Peterhof

Würzburg on the Main

I saw the building during the shipping on the Main.

This cut caught my eye.

I would like to tell you which building it is,

unfortunately I do not know.

The shot I made on my way to work in September. Dark sky opened a window and showed a light for some minutes.

Thank you for all your comments and favs, my friends.

Reflected in the dewdrop which is hanging down from one of my other plants is a potted tomato plant, and one of my house's windows. The dewdrop wasn't much larger than the size of a paper match head! Micro (macro) photo...click on it to view larger.

Occasionally guests at our B&B will leave their bathroom light on all night with the window wide open! The next morning we often get called up to retrieve moths. This beautiful White Ermine moth played dead when I picked it up but soon flew off into the Giant Gunnera plant to hide away for the day. Happy Moth Monday & Happy Window Wednesday!
